Frasers Wins British Farming Award

Award-winning restaurant with rooms and boutique wedding venue Frasers of Egerton has won the British Farming Award for ‘Large Farm Diversification and Innovation 2017’. Situated in an idyllic location in the heart of the Kent countryside between Ashford and Maidstone, the family-run business has gone from strength to strength since diversification in 1990.

“The British Farming Awards represents the pinnacle of achievement for ‘on farm’ diversification initiatives, championing the best in their respective fields. The judging panel rigorously checked all aspects of the business and my team and I are incredibly proud to come out on top – it is truly an achievement,” commented Lisa-Jane Fraser, Owner of Frasers.

Nicholas Hunt, Head of Agriculture for Santander, informed Frasers that the judging panel were impressed by the business’ long term sustainability and viability – one of the deciding factors in their decision. The British Farming Awards recognises the innovation and determination that is present in today’s ever-changing farming industry.

Frasers grew organically when they began converting redundant farm buildings in the 1990’s to luxury accommodation.  Lisa then commenced cooking with locally sourced produce to cater for parties and weddings. The idea of Frasers was born following demand from accommodation guests for high quality local produce. A redundant dairy milking parlour was demolished and in its place a state of the art commercial kitchen and adjacent oak framed Kentish barn was constructed. From opening in 2008 Frasers of Egerton has become increasingly successful resulting in multiple award wins including the AA 2 Rosette Restaurant.

Lisa-Jane Fraser added, “We are delighted to receive this prestigious award. Frasers is incredibly proud of being a small, family-run Kent business with a great team of staff who work hard to ensure that the high standards for the AA 2 Rosette Restaurant are met and maintained. To be recognised for this is such a boost to the Frasers team. We are excited about our future and are very much looking forward to another successful year.”
