Buck the traditional tiered fruit cake and choose flavoursome, seasonal ingredients such as lemon and elderflower with buttercream decorated with fresh flowers like Meghan.
Choose a local baker who prides themselves in food provenance and sustainability or why not ask a relative to bake your wedding cake for that personal touch?
Wedding Planning Tip #6: HORSEPOWER
Six horses, Windsor Greys, will be included in the procession ride at the Royal Wedding. Arrival by horse and carriage is a wonderfully romantic touch and a beautiful horse makes for charming photographs in a rural setting.
Wedding Planning Tip #5: FLOWERS
Royal wedding bouquets contain at least one sprig of myrtle, a tradition which dates back to the wedding of Queen Victoria’s daughter Princess Victoria. Myrtle symbolizes hope and love, making it a fitting addition to any bride’s bouquet, royal or not.
Aside from the traditional blooms Meghan is expected to carry peonies down the aisle. They are said to be her favourite flower, and better yet, they’ll be in season.

Meghan Markle booked Alexi Lubomirski, a prominent fashion and celebrity photographer for her engagement and wedding photographs following recommendation from a friend.
Always chose your photographer, in fact any wedding supplier, based on recommendation and meet them to see if you click before booking.
Style, talent and experience are important but personality is KEY as the photographer captures the joy of your wedding day and it’s important you feel comfortable.
Wedding Planning Tip #3: THE PROPOSAL
Ms Markle told last year how she could not wait to say “yes” to the prince when Harry got down on one knee as they cooked a roast chicken dinner at his home, Nottingham Cottage in the grounds of Kensington Palace.

Wedding Planning Tip #1: PHOTOGRAPHY ETIQUETTE
As well as dress code, the Royal guest list also reportedly includes ‘critical guidance’ for the big day. The instructions ban cameras and bulky bags, adding that guests will be asked to “surrender mobile telephones and any devices used for image capture”.
Consider your stance on guest photography and add a social media policy to your wedding invites or website. Some couples choose to politely request no photography during the ceremony while others are happy with guests clicking away and even create their own hashtag for Instagram!
